EOS Authority27th February 2019

We at EOS Authority believe that a succesful deployment of REX will be a huge step forward for the EOS community and will be a significant achievement within the blockchain community as a whole. We decided to allocate a significant portion of our technical resources to do a full analysis of the REX code and test its inner workings by pushing REX to its limits. We have uncovered issues in the past with the first code review of REX in January where we identified a critical issue with REX. The second round of reviews & tests lasted over 14 days and here are the results.

How did the second round of tests go?

The critical bug uncovered in the first round of tests are confirmed fixed. This new release candidate from Block.one (B1) also introduced a new concept of REX savings which had to be tested. As mentioned before, some parts of the system are pretty complicated and need extensive testing. The release candidate is looking good we have requested for a few updates and discovered a smaller bug.

The Release Candidate #2 bug (now fixed)

We managed to find a bug in the REX queue system. This bug would stop REX loans from being issued correctly. This bug affects REX but it is not as critical as the previous issue with RC1 where we could withdraw more tokens than deposited. We carried out these tests on 2 different environments, internal testnet and Jungle testnet (testnet provided by CryptoLions) for shared access.

As always, B1 are quick to fix. They have already patched this. Take a look at the github page for the fix. https://github.com/EOSIO/eosio.contracts/commit/4fa105cdbdc67628245c9af885c84b8c36924440.

What are the next steps?

Block.one is expected to roll out the next Release candidate #3 soon enough and we are ready to test it out fully again. This time around, we won't need as much time as the second round of tests either. As we mentioned in the past, we believe REX is extremely important for EOS. We have allocated financial and technical resources to build a professional interface for REX, the first version is ready, you will love it!. We can't wait for the community (token holders and DApps) to get their hands on REX.
